The Purpose of AMCITS

AMCITS.com was created, at the request of the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa, as a supplemental repository for information about consular services, visas and travel in the Canadian context. Although much of the information on this site is applicable worldwide, it is geared to the Canadian resident applying for immigration services and to the U.S. citizen traveling to or residing in Canada.

The information at AMCITS is designed to be used in tandem with more general information at the official embassy website ottawa.usembassy.gov and with the visa information available at www.nvars.com. The official Department of State website travel.state.gov is often linked into AMCITS.com but the latter includes Canada-specific information whereas the former is geared to travelers worldwide.

The Reliability of AMCITS

Seldom a day goes by without at least one minor revision to the site. Seldom is there a week without at least one major addition or revision. And seldom is there a month without one or more new pages added into the site. And yet, no web site with so much detailed information can make a reasonable claim to perfect accuracy at all times.

If you think you may have found a mistake or if something appears to be unclear or if you have a suggestion then please use the Contact form linked from the bottom left corner of every page. Whenever appropriate, we will convey your message to officials at the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa. Much of the information and many of the web site features that you find here have been included as a direct result of questions and comments sent to us by ordinary site visitors.

The Authority of AMCITS

Amcits.com was established under contract between the U.S. Embassy and private parties as an efficient means by which to deliver extensive and reliable information to the public. While the web site administrator is not on staff and this is not an official embassy web site, the embassy does provide input. Nothing substantive is ever added or changed here without U.S. Embassy officials first having reviewed and approved the proposed change.

In answer to your question...
